The foundation ceremony of the Geology Branch of Northwest University (NWU) Alumni Association-Beijing Chapter recently took place in the conference hall of Siyuan Building, Institute of Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Participants in the ceremony included Dunshi Yin, Vice Minister and Chief Geologist of the former Ministry of Petroleum Industry, Changming Liu, Guowei Zhang and Mingguo Zhai, Academicians of CAS, Chao Chen, Vice President of NWU, and responsible people from related sectors and departments of NWU. The ceremony also brought together delegates from Shanghai, Tianjin, Daqing, Hubei, and Qinghai Chapters of NWU Alumni Association and ~140 alumni of Department of Geology. Jishun Ren and Degan Shu, Academicians of CAS, sent congratulatory messages to the ceremony.
The Geology Branch will serve alumni of Geology in Beijing as a brand-new platform for exchange and cooperation as well as find various supports for the Department of Geology in fields such as discipline construction, personnel training and student employment.
