Course Descriptions for Geochemistry
Course Title Geochemistry
Credits 3
Hours 72
Course Description
The course of Geochemistry is designed to acquaint undergraduates with fundamental concepts of geochemistry and the development in this field; elementary abundances and elementary evolution of crust and solar system, geochemistry affinity and isomorphous replacement of elements; partition rules of trace elements and partition coefficients; trace element discrimination on geological processes; geochemical processes of water-rock interaction; law of radioactive decay and isotope chronology; composition and characteristics of magma; magmatic processes in distinct tectonic settings.
Equipped with fundamental knowledge of concepts, theories and methodologies in this field, students are expected to understand geochemical behaviors of different elements and improve their ability to apply such knowledge to geological work.
